The TMT Wellhead Acid Cap lands out and seals on the H4 Wellhead datum. The tool can be fitted with a variety of internal stinger lengths which are used to provide a bottom seal in the internal wellbore.

A biological inhibitor (generally acid) is then injected through a hot stab in the top of the cap; this fills the cavity in between the two seals ensuring the wellhead internals will remain clean.
