They are installed with the assistance of ROVs using HPU and hot stabs to lock them in place. Anodes and protective coatings protect the steelwork from rust. The plugs have primary and secondary seals for positive water exclusion.
Plugs include winch connections lugs for lifting into position, ROV handles for underwater manipulation, and hotstab manifolds for hydraulic actuation of the latching mechanisms.
