The shroud is installed over bucket connections and a low density cleaning fluid (e.g. Calciwash or Magwash) is injected into the shroud via the included male hot stab. Using a dye with the acid is recommended to detect when the bucket is full. The low density acid wash displaces the seawater and is left to dissolve the built-up calcarious marine growth. A rubber skirt and flapper valve act to keep the shroud in place, while allowing the seawater to escape and limit acid losses.

Can be used in conjunction with TMT backpack acid injection system (see TMT-NSS-183).

After soaking, the connector can be further cleaned using, for example, the TMT 420 bar Water Blaster (TMT-NSS-083) or the TMT Rotary Brushing Tools (TMT-NSS-001).
